Navy Yard

The Philadelphia Navy Yard
Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation has formed a long-term plan to transform this old navy base at the intersection of the Schuylkill and Delaware Rivers into a suburban-style business center. The plan calls for urban amenities such an extension of the Broad Street Subway from Pattison Avenue to the Navy Yard. The plan for this 1,200-acre site made great progress in August 2006, when Urban Outfitters completed the relocation of its global headquarters to the Navy Yard, and Liberty Property Trust’s One Crescent Drive building on the Yard received the first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) “Platinum” certification from the U.S. Green Building Council in the state of Pennsylvania. The Master Plan promises to “build upon” the 4 million square feet of existing activity and 6,000 employees already at the Yard. Address: South Broad Street and Interstate 95
