University City Walking Tour
November 23, 2008 (10:30 am-12:00 pm)
The itinerary and focus of this walk will be "the most historic areas of University City", highlighting the architecturally glorious blocks of Woodland Terrace, Hamilton Terrace, 42nd Street and Regent Square. There will be a brief foray into Woodlands Cemetery with it's outstanding example of Federal-style Woodlands Manor (c.1797) and final resting places of notable Civil War Generals, politicians, industrialists, artists Rembrandt Peale and Thomas Eakins, the distinguished Drexel family, Dr. Samuel Gross, among others. This walking tour will also visit Clark Park and its statue of Charles Dickens.
