Philadelphia Historical Commission's ad hoc Committee
July 28, 2008 (9:00 am-11:00 am)
The Philadelphia Historical Commission's ad hoc Committee on Legislation will meet to discuss Bill No. 080527 at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, July 28, 2008 in Room 18-029, One Parkway (City Planning Conference Room, 1515 Arch Street). The meeting is open to the public. The materials distributed to the Committee members are available for public review in the Commission's offices in Room 576, City Hall, weekdays, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Bill Number 080527, which was introduced into City Council on May 22, 2008 and will be acted upon on September 18, 2008, would amend the City's historic preservation ordinance, Section 14-2007 of the Philadelphia Code. Under the current ordinance, the Historical Commission regulates the exterior envelopes of buildings as well as their sites and appurtenances. This bill would expand the Historical Commission's purview, additionally authorizing it to designate and regulate interior portions of buildings that are, or were designed to be, customarily open or accessible to the public by invitation or otherwise.
