In 2006, Trinity Capital Advisors purchased the entire block between 11th and 12th Streets from Chestnut to Market. Their proposal for the block is to demolish all buildings (including the historic Stephen Girard Office Building) and construct a 3.5 million square feet mixed-use mega-project. This parcel has come up in some re-siting conversations because of its central location and commercial zoning. The site was also considered by University of Pennsylvania School of Design students in a design workshop organized by PennPraxis in early 2005.
