News from the director's desk, April 20

Dear PlanPhilly member,

As the wet weather subsides, PlanPhilly explores the Delaware watershed and Philadelphia storm water management and sewer system. The central Delaware
faces serious challenges in managing the ecology of our region's greatest natural asset: the Delaware Watershed. As Earth Day approaches, remember that
our planning process is in the middle of a much larger eco-system. We're working to with the Philadelphia Water Department (a national leader in
innovative water management methods) to ensure the civic vision includes solutions friendly to the environment, our city and waterfront neighborhoods. Please read Kellie Patrick's piece here:

Upcoming Events

1.) Central Delaware Steering Committee: PennPraxis is working to prepare an update of its progress distilling the
first pieces of the civic vision for the central Delaware.  This work will continue at the Steering Committee for the Central Delaware Riverfront
Advisory Group this coming Monday.  As discussed at an Advisory Group meeting earlier this month, we will be preparing principles for large-scale
development sites.  Meeting location and time are:

Monday, April 23, 8:00am
1515 Arch Street, 18th floor

A more in-depth presentation of the progress of the Planning Process will be given at the next Advisory Group meeting, May 7.  All Steering Committee and
Advisory Group meetings are open to the public, so anyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.

2.) Earth Day walk on the North Delaware: This Saturday!

Spend Earth Day walking part of the North Delaware with the Delaware River City Corporation.  The walk will begin at Delaware and Linden Avenues at 10am,
and a tour will be lead from Pleasant Hill Park to the mouth of Pennypack Creek, following the proposed path of the North Delaware Greenway Plan.  For
more information, check out DRCC's new website: http://www.drcc-phila.org/

3.) NABR Design Charrette

Saturday, April 28: Neighbors Allied for the Best Riverfront (NABR) will convene a half-day design workshop open the public to develop alternative
concepts for the two casino sites along the Delaware.  For more information, check out http://www.nabrhood.org/riverfront-planning-workshop/
