About PlanPhilly.com

Planphilly is a new city planning and urban design web site for Philadelphia and the region. It will be a place you can come to for timely news about major projects being planned or under way in the city and a place to learn about, and participate in, the challenges and opportunities that our developing city faces.

The first project that we’ll undertake with PlanPhilly is the plan for the Central Delaware Riverfront that was recently announced by Mayor Street. (Click here to read the Executive Order.) We invite you to participate in this civic engagement effort to design the public’s waterfront – both in person at a series of public meetings and forums planned for early 2007 and on-line through this website.

PlanPhilly.com is an attempt to actively engage Philadelphians in dialogue about the future of this great city. We want it to be a tool that educates and connects citizens, developers, business people and politicians alike in a discussion about what a world-class 21st century city should be.

Through the website we will stay in touch with you and keep you posted on the project’s progress. If you would like to be involved, please sign up on the left.

PlanPhilly.com is a project of PennPraxis, the clinical arm of the School of Design of the University of Pennsylvania. Praxis, in partnership with the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Center for School Study Councils designed and produced the award-winning 2003 Penn’s Landing Forums and the 2005 Franklin Conference on School Design. In 2005 and 2006, Praxis partnered with the Philadelphia Daily News on Slots and the City, a series that investigated the potential physical implications of casinos on the City of Philadelphia.
